Beneath this bridge on Blackfriars Road you can still see evidence of blast damage from when, in 1944, a V2 bomb fell nearby, destroying the old boxing ring (called the Ring) next door to the station. The modern building in the background is on the site of what was the Ring. Look at the damaged glazed tiles if ever you are here. The contrast of the old architecture with the new makes a wonderful urban greeting card.
